Discover the Difference
That We Can Make!

If your home is in need of a facelift or you are just ready for a change but you aren’t sure what color to use, we are there to help! One of our owners will arrive with a color wheel and take some time to discuss your vision and help you select colors that will help you move forward.

If you just need a little help with paint colors, many paint stores offer special events with local color consultants who can answer your questions. Also, don’t forget that paint stores can be a great resource for color ideas with their idea books and color cards which show which colors may look good together. If you’re looking to fully redecorate, you can also hire a professional color consultant who will come to your home and help you create a color palette, including ideas for fabric, paint and furnishings.

Here are some things to consider when choosing your new colors:

    • Your current decor: How will your color look with your furniture, artwork and accessories? Make sure that they are serving as a jumping off point for your color choices unless you are planning on changing the entire space and how that room will look. Be sure to also think about the adjacent rooms especially if you have an open floor plan. If there is a half wall, arch or some type of framing which technically separates the spaces, you’ll want to decide if both spaces should be the same color or if complementary colors should be used for the adjacent space.
    • Light: Remember that different light affects the paint color. You may choose a paint color only to realize it looks different when applied to a surface. Natural light may make the paint color look different than your lighting fixtures. Early day light may bring out different undertones of the paint than those near dusk. Having the painter paint several “swatches” of color on the wall will allow you to see how each reacts to different lighting before selecting your final color.
    • Vibe: Paint can feel very transformative and don’t rule out that color psychology is real. Generally, pale and cool colors can create a sense of serenity. Warm colors, especially red, can raise a room’s energy level and enhance conversation and sociability. Bright colors, like yellow, are happy but can be hard on the eyes which can then bring out negative feelings in some people. Neutrals can help lend a sense of calm and refinement. Be sure you consider what type of vibe you want for the room or area you’re transforming.
